Maine Coon Cats

In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.     -Terry Pratchett

Breeding beautiful, large and healthy Maine Coons for family companions

Stonecliff Maine Coon Cattery is registered with TICA (The International Cat Association) and CFA (The Cat Fanciers'  Association). Our cats are registered with one or both associations.  Breeding cats are DNA tested for genetic diseases including HCM, SMA and PKD through Wisdom Health. They are negative for Feline Leukemia and FIV.  They have been echocardiogram tested and cleared for breeding by CVCA in Frederick, MD. OFA hip X-Rays rated good. We are located near Pittsburgh PA.

Is a Maine Coon Cat the right pet for you?

Maine Coons love their people but they are not overly dependent. They like to oversee all of your activities and sometimes " help" a little too much! Not all of them are lap cats.
Maine Coons love water. Some will play with a dripping faucet, tip over glasses and play in the toilet (not a good idea). I have stainless steel fountains that they prefer to drink from and dip their paws into.
Maine Coons are larger than most cats. This means that they need larger litter boxes, more litter and eat more food than a normal sized domestic cat. They don't reach their full mature size until they are 3-5 years old.
Maine Coons need regular grooming so their  beautiful  coats do not become knotted and matted.  They must become accustomed to being combed and brushed regularly.  With daily grooming on your part, they quickly learn to enjoy the attention and one on one time.
On Thanksgiving Day 2021 we welcomed  9 babies into the world but one unfortunately didn't make it.  Zelda is a great mom. She is a large black and silver torbie. She has a loving, curious personality.

This is Geno. He is a very large black classic tabby with white- Russian import. His parents are both Champions in the World Cat Federation. He has the best personality. Very laid back and loves attention. He is almost as big as my cocker spaniel!

We are a small cattery outside of Pittsburgh, PA. The Maine Coon cat has always fascinated me. I have always wanted to own a full blooded one and be able to show it. My goal is to produce breed standard Maine Coons that are healthy and have excellent temperaments.  All our Maine Coons are pedigreed and registered with TICA and/or CFA. Our cats are DNA health tested along with heart echoes and OFA hip X-Rays at two years of age.
The Maine Coon is one of the largest breeds of cats. They have a unique wild look with their large tufted ears, broad heads, smoochy muzzles, fluffy bellies and "pants" and long fluffy tails. Last but not least, their large paws with tufts of fur are distinctive.
